ROUGHOUT
True roughout leather boots, much like a cowboy’s good roughout saddle, are simply utilizing the reverse side of a natural, full grain leather. It offers all the durability of a full grain leather, but produces a much punchier, and old school cowboy look. The leather will attract dirt and dust and naturally burnish from wear, making each pair of boots unique to its owner in time.

CARE
Regular cleaning will help roughout boots last longer. Be sure to let boots dry after exposure to wet and muddy conditions. Use a horsehair boot brush to remove debris before cleaning the leather. Never condition the leather. We recommend Bickmore’s Suede & Nubuck Cleaner or a suede eraser.

      SINCE 1875

THE INVENTOR OF THE COWBOY BOOT

In 1875, a rancher walked into C.H. Hyer’s cobbler shop after a long cattle drive. He asked C.H. to build him a better shoe for spending long days in the saddle.

The result? C.H. created a purpose-built boot with a tapered toe, raised heel, tall shaft, and a scalloped opening. The unmistakable silhouette known around the world as the Cowboy Boot.

      All your Boot Questions Answered

Choose your normal shoe size. HYER boots fit true to US sizing.
ā–  Be conscious of your sock – thin or thick. This can make a difference when trying on boots.
ā–  In between sizes - we recommend the ½ size larger.
ā–  Narrow foot – we recommend to either size down or choose your true size in regular width (size B for women’s and size D for men’s).
ā–  Wide foot – we recommend to either size up or choose the wide widths available (size C for women’s, and size EE for men’s).
ā–  Your size should fit the same across all silhouettes.

The fit of our styles are traditional and straightforward. There should be very slight resistance when pulling them on
and zero resistance once you’re ā€œthrough the turnā€.
ā–  You should feel slippage in the heel area and comfortable conformity in the instep.Ā
ā–  Both toe profiles are most common and stylish today in authentic western and the most comfortable for everyday use.
ā–  These styles were made for the working cowboy and cowgirl while keeping modern function and diverse use in mind.
ā–  HYER boots fit true to size. When deciding what size, you should go off your normal shoe size.

Please refer to our Fit & Size Guide

It is best to try boots on carpet so that the soles do not scuff should you need to return.
ā–  Slip your foot into the boot. You should feel a POP when your heel slides past the counter and onto the insole.
ā–  Validate the heel lift. You should be able to lift your heel but not a whole lot. The leather will shape to your heel and hold it in place over time.
ā–  The ball of your foot should hit the widest section of the boot for added comfort.
ā–  Your arch should feel a bit snug. The leather will stretch as the boot forms to your foot.
ā–  Check the flawless fit and comfort by walking around!

Traditional and durable method used in crafting footwear. It involves stitching a welt (a strip of leather) to both the
upper and insole of the boot.
ā–  Just as cowboy boots were originally made by HYER in 1875, Goodyear welt is still the prime construction for well-made, long-lasting boots.Ā
ā–  These 3/4 welt versions include wood pegs and nails, they both secure the hand-placed shank and add stability.

Yes, we offer free returns and exchanges for unworn items at HYER Boots.

Great boot! The fit is perfect. The hybrid outsole with long wear zone provides the right amount of traction while still feeling like leather. Hyer boots are my new favorite. The history and story of the company is also amazing.

        Fantastic Boots...

Kincaid meets the roughout ... got that message from Hyer in an email, so I checked it out and I have to say without a doubt I had to have a pair. Received the quickly after ordering, right out of the box and on my feet comfortable and as always a perfect fit. Great Hybrid soles that are sure to last... Thanks for The kincaid with the roughout look.

        Comfortable and well made

The Kincaid is my first pair of HYER boots. Wanted an all around boot for daily wear and work on the ranch. These boots are making a great hit on both. They look great, comfortable to stand in or walk all day, and foot the bill for a work boot. Enjoy the sole with the non slip label along with the leather. Walking heal with a nice spur lip to keep the spurs in place.

Overall a great made boot that’s comfortable.

        Thank you!

This is my first pair of Hyer boots. Absolutely in love with them. Love the hybrid sole. Perfect fit out of the box and very little break in needed. Won’t be my last pair, that’s for sure.
